Senior (Average age 14+) – Senior classes are ALL open drop-in classes for both MDCD and Non-MDCD students (based on Availability). Senior dancers are advanced dancers, and prior experience is required. Dancers looking to participate with the Senior Competition Team or Training Team will focus on commercial styles of dance (hip hop, jazz funk), technique (ballet, jazz, leaps & turns), dance vocabulary, and retention of high level choreography through weekly dance combos and monthly master classes from the best industry dancers and choreographers from Los Angeles. With studio director approval, senior dancers can earn the opportunity to push themselves by participating in the MDCD adult classes.
2017 Weekly Required Team Hours: 10.5
Senior Competition Team: Senior students must audition for the MDCD Competition Team. If a dancer is invited to participate on the Senior Team, the dancer must commit to a minimum of 10.5 hours of weekly training, and will participate in 1-5 competition dances, depending on placement. Dance placement and number of dances will be decided by the studio director. The studio director may place a dancer on a team below their age group, based on audition performance. MDCD competes in 3 regional dance competitions & 2-3 dance conventions each year.
Senior Training Team: Senior students choosing to audition for the MDCD Training Team will commit to the same training hours as the Senior Competition Team, but will not participate in competitions.
